Are you considering applying to be a model? If so, just wait a minute, dont jump right into it!
As scouts and model bookers here at Mentor we have advice and tips on the best way to catch attention from the agency and how not to your get your application instantly deleted.
'What? You actually instantly delete peoples applications?' you cry...Yes we do and here are some of the reasons why:
- The photos you used are black and white or filtered.
- You applied for your baby/child and they are wearing a dummy, have a hat on, toys in their hand and food on their face.
- The applicant is wearing a lot of makeup and hair is tied back so that we cant see it.
- You are wearing sunglasses.
- The images are not fresh snapshots, you uploaded one from Christmas, one from your holiday in Greece and one from your last night out. In every photo your hair is a different colour.
- You miss information on the application such as height.
These are just some of the reasons we just dont take an application seriously. These images dont mean business and give us the impression that the aspiring model cannot be bothered.
So let's assume you do want to take this seriously, here is what will get you noticed:
- Take the photos especially for this purpose, dont scroll your camera roll looking for your favourite pics.
- Don't use professional images - some studios offer very expensive sessions and these may not be to the liking of model agencies. It stops them seeing potential if the images aren't to their standards.
- A simple outfit, jeans and a plain white t-shirt or vest top. Keep it plain, no accessories or jewellery.
- Hair down, and very natural, little or no makeup on the face.
- A plain white background.
- Good natural lighting (possibly outdoors or by a window).
- A close up showing hair and face with no smile.
- A close up smiling to show teeth.
- A full length image showing full figure.
