This is Harriet Webster, age 12 from Chesterfield in Derbyshire. She has been enjoying modelling since birth and has worked for a wide range of brands including, the Next Directory, Very, Littlewoods, Converse, Disney Princess magazine and Nike. At 12 years old she is almost 5'7 and her height is already opening doors into the adult fashion modelling world. This year she has been signed up to one of the UK's largest independent model agencies, Select Model Agency, with Mentor Model Agency as her Mother agency.
We have asked Harriet a few questions, hopefully her answers will help some aspiring models:
WHAT IS YOUR OLDEST MODELLING MEMORY?
The first job I remember is going to a muddy farm to do a Photoshoot with my real Mum, a fake model brother and fake model dad to shoot images for a book about bringing a pet home for the first time. I remember it being fun but a long way from home and we stayed in a hotel in the evenings as it was a 2 day shoot.
WHICH JOB DID YOU ENJOY MOST AND WHY?
I used to work regularly for Littlewoods and Very (I'm too tall now). It was great fun as I got to work with lots of people and got to know quite a few of them.
HOW WAS IT SIGNING WITH YOUR NEW AGENCY SELECT?
It was an exciting time. Select scouted me at the Clothes Show and I could not believe it. They thought I was a little young but I already had interest from Wilhelmina and Storm so they went ahead and got me started. I was so happy as Select are so lovely and professional. I love going into the agency to see the team, especially my booker Natasha.
HAVE YOU GOT ANY PROJECTS LINED UP IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
Yes, I'm actually super excited for tomorrow as I have an audition in London for a Boohoo TV commercial. I have to dance at the casting but I'm okay with that as I've been to dance classes since I was around 3 years old.
DO YOU HAVE ANY MAKEUP OR SKINCARE ADVICE?
Yes I'm just starting to get a few teen skincare problems so I recommend a 3 step routine every morning and night. I always use a cleanser, a toner and then a moisturiser. My mum is always telling me not to touch or pick at my face. I have loads of makeup, I'm a bit obsessed with it, especially Urban Decay and Anastasia Beverley Hills but I'm not really advised to wear that much for castings so I usually just use a bit of light, natural foundation, mascara, lip gloss and eyebrow gel.
I like to watch makeup tutorials by Nikkie Tutorials on YouTube but that style of makeup is more what I would try for parties than modelling.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FASHION STYLE AND FAVOURITE PLACES TO SHOP........
I think I have an experimental fashion style. My favourite things at the moment are mesh tops with patterns and embroidered jeans or denim skirts. I wear some of my mums TOPSHOP vintage items, however I tend to drift towards more tomboy styles and I like tshirts from Pretty Green tucked into denim skirts. I love shopping at Topshop, Urban Outfitters and a shop I only just discovered on Carnaby Street called Brandy Melville.
